There was a GRRRRREAT deal of wisdom in your post, Alan, and I, for one appreciate mightily that you took the time to express it so well.
I'm NOT enabling or wishing to protecting WJC man from his consequences.
I want him out of office,
out of his home,
his wife to leave him,
and his children,
howEVER many there are
to realize early the true nature of the man that is their father,
and hopeful earn EARLY in their young life from his mistakes.
Then, and only then,
might they be able to stop the pattern of abuse of trust, which is what all fornication or infidelity is all about.
It is too much to hope for that he will step down. But, a demonstrated pattern of unwise personal choices ALWAYS bleeds over into ones job performance,
one's community responsibility,
and in our particularly sad case,
national defense, or is it now, indefensibility?
Folks, as you so aptly quoted, keep euphemistically talking about
the "thing in his pants" as if it has some kind of detachable life
of it's own. (The only detachable one that I'm aware of is the Bobbit one lying in a field several months ago.)
Those "things" are always attached...
just like a murdering hand-gun is always attached...
to a person...
who is ultimately responsible for how that "thing" is used,
regardless of the number of bullets in the chamber.
And frankly,
the more "bullets in the chamber" be it an ammo clip or a set of testicles,
the greater the responsibility in my mind!!!
