That is a good question. Am I a promoter....an important fact when considering my opinion. The answer "NO"
I left the #2 finance school in the country and decided as i enjoyed consulting so much than instead of heading to wall street like 40% of my class, i went into financial consulting with Arthur Andersen. After meeting my girlfriend in a training class in St. Charles and dating for awhile- i decided to work in Lima, Peru. I switched to another Big 5 consulting firm as Andersen's practice down here is more systems oriented- and i had an offer that could not be refused. i am heading back to the states in 1 month or so as my future is in our great country and not here....a wonderful experience, professionally and personally- very rewarding.
as for stocks- i really enjoy researching and buying/trading them. when i am busy with my work- i pay little attention to the market...my job pays handsomely and is less risky than the market. BUT, when i am not managing a project, i like to have fun and try to make a few bucks.
i loathe promoters. i one time knew a man that got me into a bunch of penny stocks....after making 20x my money in a few months off of questionable news items- i ended up giving back a lot of it and as i took my profits off the table- i promised to
1) never play BB stocks 2) never purposely mislead anyone (not that I had before...just to be more conscience of it i guess) 3) use my finance and consulting experience for US to have fun and TRY to make some money.
my firm charges over $200 per hour for my time....and this is my way to share my experiences and knowledge with some people that want to learn and don't have the funds to either spend $100,000 to attend the University of Chicago MBA program or cannot afford $200 per hour for consulting services.
one thing i always do though is after i am convinced of a stock's merit...is invest first. then, i tell everyone on the thread....it is those people's decision then to buy or not. incidentally, i have not even been telling my family members of my stock picks.
you know that 80% of fund managers with all of the millions of dollars of resources at their hands UNDERperform the S&P500. so, am i smarter than these people with all of their resources. sometimes i actually think so....so, instead of being a paid promoter- i am a well-paid, semi-arrogant management consultant.
btw, am availbale until the end of january in Peru if anyone wants to call me...011-51-1-437-1587.
have a great weekend...i have a good feeling about this 1999 year.
oh, i have only one affiiation with DMRK....i own their stock! i have no affiliation (other than being a shareholder)with any company other than the one i work for. And, it will remain that way...i will never accept 1-cent from any company or any person to promote a stock.
