Don't they look at the performance per cost (or something along those lines) ratio? If the K7 is the beast we expect it to be, it will perform very well. As far as cost, no one knows how much AMD is gonna charge. If it is close to Xeon pricing, won't the K7's performance be able to make that ratio look appealing?

I assume they also look at reliability when they choose a chip/platform. Yes, the reliability of the EV6 platform on a non-Alpha processor is still undetermined, but we will have to see.
