fred, the direct route has many advantages. one big disadvantage is pushing pricing. retailers are pushing harder than diret dealers now. sony has a 166 mhz, 2 gig, 28.8 mod, 8x cdrom, 32 meg edo box (no monitor) at $1599. call muei and the other direct dealers and see if they will match it. i'll bet they can't... ibm is also at about $1599 for a similar box. it appears many boxes aren't selling even at these prices...
