John,
I have to disagree.

Andy Capp, punching the guy in the nose may be a solution, but it is not the best solution(or even the most effective).

Violence is never the best solution, although it is frequently an effective solution.

To equate punishment with love and love with hatred is very backwards, IMO. Punishment can be an act of love, but Loving is a greater act of Love. Punishment is for someone who has no other answer on how to cope with a problem. No other avenue they are capable of taking. No method they are capable of teaching.

Ultimately, violence is an abrupt answer for ineffectual solutions, with limited or no future for growth or learning. Love creates endless solutions for everything positive and wonderful imaginable.

These are only my opinions, but they make great and logical sense to me.
Mark
