New announcements based on S3's 3D chips.

LEXINGTON, Mass., Jan 23 (Reuter) - Number Nine Visual Technology Corp said Thursday it has begun shipping in volume its new 2D/3D visual accelerator,
the 9FX Reality 772.

The new high- performance 64-bit VRAM-based graphics card is available in 2 and 4 megabyte models, with user-upgradable memory. The company said the
PCI-based board is powered by the new, state-of-the-art S3D ViRGE/VX graphics controller from S3, Inc.

The processor combines a 64-bit 2D graphics engine, an advanced 3D rendering engine and a Streams Processor that yields superior, full-screen video and
MPEG playback, the company said.

Equipped with 2 megabytes of high-speed, dual-ported EDO VRAM, the new board will cost $199, while the 4 megabyte model is priced at $279.

This should be considered a good news for S3.
