It would be a "bad thing" because we would then be setting them up to fail. If you hold someone up to a virtually impossible standard of behavior, you are virtually guaranteeing that he or she will fall short.

If this type of scrutiny becomes widespread, as you seem to want, many brilliant politicians will be lost to us because frankly, who'd want to be in politics if it meant having every moment of your life, both past and present, investigated, questioned and made public?

I think you're being hopelessly idealistic and naive, Bob.
