Perhaps the most surprising element in his diversified career
is Kenny Rogers Roasters, a chain of wood-roasted chicken
restaurants. The aim of this popular concept is to offer a tasty,
but healthier alternative to fast foods. Judging from the initial
response, the idea is a tremendous success: over 250
restaurants have been established throughout the United
States and Roasters has opened in 16 countries
internationally.
Recently, NBC-TV's popular comedy series "Seinfeld"
devoted an entire episode to Kenny Rogers Roasters, based
on a real-life incident that took place at one of the Roasters restaurants in New York City.
In addition, "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" has highlighted Roasters in several of its
creative opening sketches and "Conan O'Brien" incorporated a Roasters taste test when
Kenny recently appeared on the late-night network talk-show.
In April 1997, the hospitality division of HFS Incorporated, the world's largest franchiser
of hotels and residential real estate brokerage offices announced at a special press
conference in Washington, D.C. that it had created a strategic alliance with Roaster Corp.'s
