Guilt is not always clear- but then that defendant never admitted he had done anything. Clinton has admitted to doing what he was suspected of doing- he just doesn't define what he did in the way anyone else would define it. Rather like a bombing suspect who said- yes I put together an explosive device but it wasn't a bomb.

I suspect an impeachment trial is not like a court trial. Impeachment is only voted after the house is pretty sure a high crime or misdemeanor has been committed. So we all know (well most rational people agree) Clinton did SOMETHING wrong- but was it a high crime or misdemeanor? That decision lies with an individual Senator's interpretation of the Constitution, or what he thinks the Constitution should evolve into. I grant you that there are good arguments on both sides. I personally think anyone else, in any other job, would lose his job if he had done what Clinton has done. I do not think the President should be held to a lower standard than everyone else. If anything you would think the President would be held to a higher standard- but that is obviously not what the bulk of the American people think.

But I must also say that the bulk of the American people are abysmally ignorant. They hear it repeated over and over again that this is private sexual conduct- and they believe it. They do not seem to realize that sexual escapades in the workplace are not private. And a sexual harassment lawsuit is certainly not a private matter- though it deals with intimate matters. Further lying in a sexual harassment lawsuit is serious- as these lawsuits go on everyday. Should every defendant take a leaf from Clinton's book and lie, or redefine the truth?
