I'm sorry, Sam, what are you saying here? That Jesus was a Roman fraud? I suspect myself that whoever the historical figure is who came to be known as Jesus was charismatic, compelling, and quite sincere. I think he was following the Buddha, not the Bible, for the most part, and that he was simply embellished and used for political purposes.

I did read recently of the theory that Jesus was illegitimate--that his father was a Roman soldier. That might explain part of the need for an immaculate conception!!
