John,
You state that in a perfect world violence is never the answer. Would you have god act in a less than perfect manner? when he judges you soul, according to christianity, he is not doing that in this world. he is acting in a more supernatural realm, where perfection is possible and his perfection is expected.
as for the soldier who throws himself on the grenade, he is not doing violence to others, he is acting on his behalf, affecting only himself. I contend that he is not acting violently at all.
You ask me about consequences, I am not concerned about consequences, but about finding truth that is meaningul to me.
There are many books that explain aspects of what I believe, but i don't know of one that I am totally in agreement with.If god is offended by an honest and earnest search for truth based in love, what does that say about him?
