X,

LOL

Gotcha. It's amazing how hard it is to be 100% clear on message boards (it seems the only time people are truly clear is when they're being obstinate and/or offensive, which happens all too often), so I appreciate your explanation. (BTW, don't read anything into your posts -- see what I mean about the difficulty of being clear?)

>>I figured Clinton would be nowhere near as progressive as the liberals thought he would be- based on his awful record in Arkansas- especially on the environment<<

So true. His record wasn't great in many ways, and he's failed to implement some (most?) of his plans, such as health care reform. I don't want to start a debate here on health care, but I've seen the positive side to universal health care here in Canada, as one example of why I likely would have voted for him (I also liked Gore's--apparent--environmental concerns, and hi-tech policies such as getting internet into classrooms).

A pundit on CNN recently said that one thing Republicans hate about Clinton is how much he's managed to shift to the middle of the political spectrum, leaving little room for them. This same shift has alienated him from many in his own party.

And the saga continues...

Regards,

Adamson
