Okay Mike, here's number 2 and I won't hit wrong keys this time.

I think...Bill Gates, as the world's #1 geek, has done a lot to improve the self image of many teenage young men. Bill still looks like a geek. My son and his friends in the computer labs at high school are proud to be "geeks." Because of Bill, smart kids who are fanatics about computers are generally not made fun of by their peers. In the old days, they may have been the 97 lb weaklings who got sand kicked in their faces. Now, it's more the big clods who can't spell "computer," much less operate one, who are made fun of.

Mike I can remember as a senior in high school in Ely NV in 1974 that our math teacher told us we all needed to buy calculators for college. This was a rather far fetched idea, since many of the math/science students had already purchased VERY expensive slide rules. But...I bought one. It could add, subtract, multiply and divide, and cost a whopping $85, a lot of money for a high schooler in those days. Pocket change to my son now.

While more recently...One day about a year ago, I was wandering down the hall of my office building, and spied one of our younger computer wizards on his computer gazing at an amazing looking screen. I asked him what it was, and he replied that it was Netscape and the Internet. Having heard about this Netscape stuff, I asked him if he could get stock prices on it...and he immediately showed me how it was done. Well, Mike, I was hooked! I asked him how I could get that on my computer at home, and he said to get a 28.8 modem, a second telephone line, and go see a certain office. So, I launched onto the internet and have been hooked ever since.

It's rather comical that for a long time I refused to have anything to do with the internet because I did not want my son on it. Like many mothers, I had been inundated with the "horrors" of the internet with all its pornography, filth, etc. But once I got on, I found the good stuff vastly outweighed the bad, and my son has spent many enjoyable hours on the internet ever since. He and his friends visit out there and play computer games out there. I do all my investment research on the internet.

I can see this is a long note. I...have been glider flying at Minden. Two years ago it was run by a former Navy officer. My parents live in Reno. When we were back there two years ago, I took my son out there because I wanted him to have the experience. We went on one-hour glider rides up over the mountains and looked at Lake Tahoe. It was really wonderful and I can see how you enjoy it. Do you own your own plane? Do they have any glider fields in Utah?

As for skiing, when I was a child and lived in Hailey, Idaho, I use to race at Sun Valley. I've always loved skiing, but must admit it tires me out a whole lot more now than it once did. I took my son skiing over in Korea several winters ago, and we've skied at Tahoe when I've visited my parents in the winter. When we move to Utah, I want to get him a season pass to one of the ski areas. He likes to both ski and snowboard. Although I still like to ski, I could probably get more excited about season tickets to Ballet West.
Have you ever played racketball? That's always been one of my favorites. I've also enjoyed Karate and would like to take that up again, mainly the type that is more like Chinese kick boxing. How do you travel to Utah? Do you fly in, or take the likes of I-80, I think, across?

Well, goodbye, and I enjoy your notes. Your pretty humorous at times! I would enjoy hearing more about your current business if you have the time.

Denise
