1) Excellent article on why advertising ain't gonna save AOL,

techweb.com

2) And how 'bout LIFETIME ACCESS for 60 BUCKS!

sfgate.com:8001/cgi-bin/fish_demo/getart?((%22uniqueid%22+%22gate-fishwrap%3a------LifetimeAccess0692768284%22)(%22app%22+%22rel4demo%22)(%22whence%22+%2211483+43104%22))

(you'll need to copy the whole address above, link alone won't do it)

3) Compuserve plans to air 30 second ad during the SuperBowl, "the 30-second ad brags that "CompuServe members connect on the first try 97 percent of the time," according to Scott Kauffman, vice president of Interactive Services. The ad is directed at AOL and their legendary poor service. Such ads typically cost $1-1.2 million.

from pcweek.com

4) Separately, AT&T has released an independent study showing that only 37% of AOLers can get on first try. WorldNet is now growing faster than AOL, signing up discriminating AOL refugees, probably the fasted growing subsegment on the Internet.
