It's a pretty safe bet that Corel Corp. will be a big business story in 1999....Corel is now selling software to the small, but exploding market that competes with Microsoft's Windows operating system.
Christmas came early when the Micrografx and Lamarr suits were settled and a judge dismissed Bridgeman's case.
Investor confidence even showed signs of creeping back and in one week shares soared 34% as a lack of earnings warnings indicated the firm would hit sales targets in the next quarter.
Shares jumped almost 18% after Corel announced it was acquiring a 25% stake in GraphOn Corp. as part of a strategic alliance. In exchange, Corel gave the firm its Java-based jBridge technology.
