As these things go up and down and everything gets crazier and crazier, I am glad that my fundamental standard of living is guaranteed by something other than the investments I control. We are totally debt free--even paid off the mortgage--and when my daughter is through college I can start dreaming up other extravagances. But I just can't stand to see such absolute nuttiness going on and not at least try to get something out of it. We did the zero-coupon thing eighteen months ago, and it worked out quite well. It remains to be seen if the transition to BEARX was ultimately a good idea or not. So far, not so good, but still holding. And trying to make up for that premature move with some puts on the worst of the Internets. Quite a game, isn't it?
