My original opinion of the NC was very negative. This has changed
after reading the SI threads and after some thought.

I still don't agree that the cost issue alone will drive IS
departments to adopt the NC. But I have a new thought that maybe
the more knowledgeable SUN people could critique:

What if the NC can be made to be more attractive to users
than the PC? This could be done very easily. The NC could have
every application available on the net ready to run. 10's
of thousands of programs ready to do tasks you haven't event thought
of yet.

And the argument that application vendors would nickle and dime the
user to death is weak. A few years ago I heard people laugh when I
suggested unlimited internet access for a flat fee. They assured me
that the cost of modems and other factors would make unlimited
internet too expensive. Now it is very common AND CHEAP!

Perhaps we would pay for unlimited Jave access to an ISP. Or even
the free TV model comes to mind. Just think: one flat rate, all the
applications in the world. Maybe I do need an NC after all...
