Perhaps I was wrong in assuming that no one (not even a caretaker, passive Index fund manager) wants to lose money. And for this I apologize. The more I think of it, the more you are right: the stock market is full of idiots. Indeed, someone sold me his AOL shares at Thursday's close (actually a few minutes before the close) at 145. And when my limit order to sell three quarters of those shares (at 154) was picked up 20 minutes later (at 160), I had pocketed a cool 15 point profit. Profit someone else could have had if he had just been a little more patient. Or maybe, I'm the idiot -- AOL just might open above 160.
