Hi Richard,
Don't know about the idea of Europeans who have kept cash at home suddenly deciding to place it in the bank or spend it. The part about exchanging cash for gold due to uncertainty over the new currency sounds promising. Elimination of Value Added Tax (VAT) on investment gold should also encourage movement into bullion.
