What ever the result the ADS will be , one thing is for sure is Microsoft is committing
on the e-commerce business, and will come big. Microsoft will eat AOL's lunch. It really does not matter if I use AOL's or Microsoft's service, as long as the provider had
previous track record and the name is big. So, lots new users may go to Microsoft, and customers of AOL may switch

ED, If the AOL on-line service had a lot of problems recently, I would tend to agree with you - only in the long term. Unfortunately I don't know how good they are because US and Canadian services are probably were different. Since MSFT is really interested in E commerce, they will not charge more than AOL (as in the past - i think that was the case).
Now they are focussing on service but at some point, we may see very aggressive pricing from MSFT. They really CAN afford to lose money in the on line business in the short term. I am not sure if AOL's stock can withstand such an onslaught whether it is MSFT or another ISP. I think MSFT is not aggressive at this point because they want to win the DOJ case first. If they win -- the potential negative publicity won't be there to stop them from being very aggressive.
I believe Bill Gates is the smartest businessman out there. The way he wiped out IBM in operating systems, spreadsheets -- Corel in word processing software ....etc. -- is just amazing. It was a small company back then - taking on a computer giant IBM. You can't bet against this guy.
