ok, using your numbers, gtw's earnings are up 15% annually (best case scenario, probably lower) in 1997 and 1998 while the stock price is up about 89% using the price on 1/1/97 through the end of 1998 - the two years in question. the more recent growth rate hasn't even been that good. don't get me wrong. i'm not just picking on gtw. i think the amzn's, cscos, intcs, xlnxs, altrs and all the popular stocks are overvalued relative to their growth rates. gtw just sticks out b/c of their management's, shall we say, prowess ;-) in fact, some of those issues are more overvalued than gtw.
