Croc,

I remember ice storms that would leave every twig of every tree sheathed in crystal. The next day was always clear and sunny, and you'd go out feeling that a single loud noise would be enough to crack everything. Sorry to hear about the trees coming down, though I'm sure a lot of that wood ended up in fireplaces this winter. It used to be an event whenever a storm took down one of those trees that gives wonderful firewood, but that you'd never cut - apple, hickory, cherry, and the like. Every scrap would be stacked and seasoned, and burned with great appreciation.

I always though that I'd like to retire to a fruit farm someday, with a good lot of mixed forest around it, and of course a river nearby... life has not much inclined toward putting down roots, but I suppose it's still possible.

Steve
