I have to agree. Ecommerce is going to be huge and AOL will be right in the middle of it.

I just tried to buy a few things on the web. This is my second attempt at buying on the net and it again proved to be a frustrating experience at first. I wanted to buy a few specific items: some underwear and a cordless razor that were advertised in the Sunday paper. I tried the stores that advertised the items. First macys.com. ZILCH, couldn't even find underwear in general. Tried kmart.com. NADDA, same empty results. I tried the manufacturers directly and a few more sites. ZIP.

Then I tried AOL.COM. A couple clicks and I've got exactly what I want, brand name and all, AND at a 35% discount. That's a better price than any store sale!! AOL will be big in e-commerce.

Sites like AOL will be the "malls" of the internet and the user interface will be the key to their success. Most sites I've tried are awkward and difficult to use. AOL is doing it right. Easy for the consumer and exactly what they want. You can bet that I'll use AOL first the next time I want to buy something on the net.
