I don't have any idea how much research you have done on the subject, but since I hadn't done any, I accepted your statement as a challenge to find out what was going on in China. I was surprised by what I found. Here is a link that contains a great deal of information on China's internet system. Of particular note and relevancy, is the graph in the center of the page depicting the projected number of users, their income and time on line. virtualchina.com There are actually e-commerce sites already in China, with some big name US companies involved.
