<George, your post confused me. Here is an interesting test, and one
that is in line with the interests of this thread, I hope.

Go to starwars.com;

I guess that I was simply stating that all dial-up internet services have been a great disappointment and that I'm thoroughly satisfied with my Cox@home cable modem connection.

You actually aroused my curiosity and I did your test. The download took about 10 minutes and the data was coming at 47.3kB/sec (approx. 473kbits/sec)per my Netscape browser.

Why it doesn't come at the advertised 10Mb can be for any number of reasons:
- Other users on my node
- Network congestion at the ATHM headend
- Network congestion at Cox
- Slow server at Lucasfilm
- Arbitrary limitations imposed by anyone between here and the website

Can't imagine how bad it would be on a dial-up ISP. Because the dial-up is a weak link, it would appear to be operating near the 3-4k/sec limit. In such case, with a dial-up, I wouldn't be willing to sit for an hour and a half just to watch a starwars preview!
