I thought that the Banshee did very well in it's introduction. It won a major OEM contract at Gateway and has been doing very well in retail.

Yes, it would've been better to win a few more big OEM's, but 3Dfx has the opportunity to show it can support a large OEM (and several smaller ones) without facing explosive growth ot the same time.

The production capacity issue was based more on 3Dfx's conservative estimates of how many chips would be bought. When I talked to them, they said that it was more a matter of lead time for their orders, not a basic shotfall.
