voice-recognition technologies for CE devices. Both declined to elaborate, but
sources said the technology could be used for command and control of home
electronics-such as telling a stereo to switch CD tracks.

Startup VM Labs plans to announce at least one additional DVD license for
its 3-D Nuon technology. Nuon is a multimedia processor that decodes
MPEG-2 video for DVD playback and supports high-end 3-D gaming and
other multimedia functions. The company is expected to show some of the first
game titles supporting Nuon technology at CES.

Toshiba has licensed the technology for a line of DVD players, and Motorola
is using the technology for a set-top box. Toshiba will show new DVD movie
players this week.

As reported in November by CRWi, Apple this week is expected to
announce a price cut on its original iMac to $999 and introduce a new
model-iMac II-with a larger hard drive (8GB) and a 300MHz processor.
Sources said it also will feature a standard DVD drive.
