Some Techweb articles........I like the tone....

The key buzzwords today are interoperability and integration," said Inese
Lanka, product marketing manager at Ciprico Inc., Plymouth, Minn. "Fibre
Channel will be the catalyst for SANs, and in the next year to 18 months we
are going to see huge installations,"

. Conventional architecture designed four to five years
ago is just not good enough. If I were Seagate [Software Inc.], I would have
funded every new media application that came down the pike. The same thing

While most of the arrays in this roundup required only about 20 minutes to set
up, the Compaq Fibre Channel Storage System took an hour and a half.

The performance of the Compaq array, populated with SCSI drives, was
slower than the other arrays in this roundup, which all had Fibre Channel
drives. A rather spartan unit, the Compaq offering lacked a console or a
fault-tolerant Fibre Channel interface. It can accommodate an optional extra
power supply for fault tolerance.
