If Hyperion's top line license growth is disappointing, it will call into question their ability to sustain their underlying earnings growth.

To answer an earlier post, yes, I've changed my tune. I've never felt i knew enough about the old hyperion side of the business. The more i learned, the more uncomfortable I've become. I like the strategy and the potential positioning of the company, but no one can answer for me whether the short term challenges I've heard about are chronic or temporary.

Even though the valuation appears attractive, we are starting to see die hard analysts pull the plug on their support of the story. If the outlook is uncertain and license growth is below expectations, then I'd expect more negative comments from the analysts and only modest short term upside at best. This is also troubling from an employee morale standpoint. The yahoo thread looks like an angry meeting of in-laws.

Waiting on the sidelines for now. It's a shame, because everything I've heard about the results from the Essbase side of the equation has been impressive.
