TRANSCEND MEMORY BOOSTS SUPERSLIMS TO FULL POWER

ORANGE, Calif., Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Transcend Information Inc., one

popular product lines for ultra-slim notebooks for 1999. A 64mb option
for the Sony VAIO 505's (PCG-505G and PCG-505GX), and 128MB for the
Toshiba Portege 3010CT/3015CT, are immediately available and shipping
in quantity.

With Transcend's new 128MB upgrade, Toshiba Portege's pack 192MB of raw
presentation/computational power. "Transcend engineers, faced with the
computer's 2.9 pounds and 3/4" thickness, turned to TCP packaging to
populate newly designed boards, saving valuable space and reducing heat,
" according to OEM Vice President of Sales Clarence Chan. (Transcend
p/n TS64MT3010.) PC Computing's MVP champion, the Portege 3010CT is
equipped with an Intel(R) 266MHz Pentium(R) processor with MMX
technology, 4.3GB hard drive, 32MB of EDO DRAM, 3Com 56K PC card modem,
10.4-inch TFT display and 128-bit NeoMagic graphics accelerator.

Transcend's 64MB VAIO upgrade was designed to dovetail with the 32 MB
SDRAM (soldered on board) and the 505's single memory slot. The
Transcend module takes the 505's up to their maximum 96MB capacity
(Transcend p/n TS64MSY505). A 4x16, 10ns SDRAM design employs an
80-pin connector and provides 100% compatibility. The VAIO 505 systems
feature Intel(R) Pentium(R) processors with MMX technology at 200 MHz
(505G) and 266 MHz (505GX). Both feature 2.1 GB hard drives, built-in
K56flex modem, 10.4-inch TFT SVGA screen, USB, infrared port, and a
port replicator.
