Did you have Netscape configured to make your dialup connection? Can't you use dialup networking to make your own connection? Don't you have internet explorer form the Windows install, so you can get on the internet?. I would try backing up the data from the apps that don't work and then removing those apps as completely as possible through the control panel, and then re-installing them.

Personally, I like reformatting and re-installing after a careful backup. I don't use any backup utilities--just copy over the data I want to keep to my second hard-drive. It's the shortest part of the process. I keep notes on each step in the process, so the next time I do it, it will be faster.
