The U.S. had all the innovators and the Soviets just made crude copies en masse. You could say they were the Microsoft of Tanks and Boats and Planes. However, our fighters were much more nimble than theirs with a kill ratio of 15 Migs for every U.S. fighter downed. Still, they had the numbers edge and believe they could win. It wasn't until Reagan upped the ante with new Strategic Defense Initiative technology that the Soviets eventually petered out. They couldn't innovate or copy fast enough! What is Apple/Tech industry's SDI? PowerPC? Java? -Bill_H
