HappyHours.com Salutes the French Fry & the
First Successful French Fry Vending Machine

PR Newswire - December 23, 1998 05:35

BLUE BELL, Pa., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- French Fries probably came to America with French fur trappers along the Hudson River in the early 1700s. In 1802, President Thomas Jefferson accidentally started America's French Fry craze, by serving "Potatoes, Fried in the French Manner,"during a State dinner at the White House.

Now, Tasty Fries, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: TFRY), based in Blue Bell,PA,(soon to be relocated to New Hampshire) is ready to introduce their French fry vending machine. I contacted Ralph McKittrick, Marketing Consultant for Tasty Fries, and asked if the company would demonstrate their machine for HappyHours.com.
McKittrick said yes immediately, and invited us for an exclusive demonstration.

Tasty Fries president, Ed Kelly, welcomed us to Pennsylvania, and opened up the Tasty Fries machine so he could explain the process, and we could watch our fries being made. "One of the secrets that makes this process possible is the freeze dried Russet potatoes we use," said Kelly. "We had to develop our own potato product in Idaho, what we needed didn't exist."

Specially filtered water is added to the dehydrated potatoes in the "mix chamber." The mixture is then robotically extruded into 32 individual fries, and lowered into the mini cook pot containing preheated, oil. After the fries were lowered into the hot oil, the familiar aroma of cooking fries filled the lounge. Before I realized it, I was licking my lips!

A few seconds later, the fries dropped into a paper serving cup that has salt and ketchup attached, and Kelly passed them around. I was very surprised at how good the fries tasted. The aroma is wonderful, and the golden brown fries have a fresh, just-cut flavor. Excellent!

The machine can hold 500 individual 4 oz. servings. Kelly says the company will roll the first of its production machines out in March of 1999.

"We'll begin placing machines in hand-picked locations in New Hampshire, and here in Pennsylvania, during the first quarter of next year,"said Kelly. The machines will be located in "high-traffic locations such as airports, universities, schools, bus and train stations, military bases, work areas and recreational venues," commented McKittrick.

In our opinion, Tasty Fries has perfected its patented state-of-the-art robotic French Fry vending machine. The fries are really good! For more info on Tasty Fries, visit their website at: tastyfries.com or, call 610-941-2109.
