Alan, Aus, thread:
Losing..what was it, 3/4 today?...made me mad, indeed, mad enough to buy more which I swore I would not. I have a market order to buy at the open tomorrow.
The "whisper" number of 09 seems impossibly low considering the same state of affairs last Christmas season when digital cameras were inferior to present, more expensive than present, and much, much more doubted as to their lasting acceptance than present.
Speaking of "present", I reveal my naivete in the delight I have found with my new gift, a Nikon Coolpix 900. I was expecting pretty damn good images, and have found unbelievable images. True, this may not be the stuff of Ansel Adams dreams, but for me to take a picture of my cat, blow it up to see just his eyes at something like 400%, and see no degradation of quality...well, it not only makes for a nice desktop bitmap, but gives me hope for lots of photo fun to come.
Even as a SNDK investor, I wondered about how many would truly go for digital pics versus film when I had inferred that the output was so inferior to a Kodak moment. Chew me up and spit me out the window, I was wrong. I believe, with my money where my mouth is, that anyone who received a digital camera during the holidays will not only be similarly enchanted, but will ache to buy a few extra CompactFlash cards before their next cruise to Fantasy Island.
You guys who are fiddling with MP3, PDA's, and so on may indeed be correct in signaling these as new SNDK horizons. But, based on digital photography alone, I am confident in the continuing and spiraling profitability of SNDK.
I am long.
Best Regards,
