Golden Books Appoints New Chief Financial Officer

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 4, 1999--Golden Books Family Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ: GBFE) today announced the promotion of Colin Finkelstein to Chief Financial Officer. Finkelstein will be replacing John Ferrara who will be leaving the company to pursue other interests.
Finkelstein has held a number of key positions since he joined the company in May 1996, most recently as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Children's Publishing Group. He also has served as the CFO of Children's Publishing and as Vice President of Finance of all of Golden Books Family Entertainment.

Before joining Golden Books, Finkelstein worked with EMI Music for seven years, most recently as Vice President of Finance and Controller for the company worldwide. Prior to joining EMI, he spent two years with the accounting firm of Laventhol and Horwath in New York and two years in South Africa managing his own business.
