SZM CHOOSES ASC VR300 VIDEO SERVER - 12/31/98
Leitch Technology, reported that, after extensive evaluation,
Munich-based SZM has commissioned two Leitch ASC
12-channel VR300 server systems, with 360GB of Fibre Channel
RAID storage.
SZM, a member of the German Pro7 Media Corporation, will use
the Leitch equipment, running under Louth automation, to replace
its tape-based robotic library management system (LMS).
InPhase GmbH, a Leitch partner in Germany, has confirmed that
each of the two 12-channel systems will be expanded to
18-channels in the new year.
Designed around the concept of direct, unrestricted access by all
video workstations to all stored video, Leitch's VR300 is the only
video server which permits simultaneous recording, editing, and
on-air playback. With Leitch's high-bandwidth Fibre Channel
Arbitrated Loop, there is no need to transfer files between
different workstations. The Video Server features built-in software
RAID redundancy to assure protection of all stored video. Key
installations include TeleMadrid in Spain, CNN+, CBS Newspath,
New York One News and CTV Sportsnet.
