Do you think they might follow the lead of others and pour so much expense into the service that they -- for awhile at least -- lose money or at least stop growing earnings?

To some extent they already have cost themselves substantial earnings growth today in lieu of better revenue growth and better profitability in the future. I base this primarily on their international/language expansion web sites. I don't know very much about their success in attracting large audiences at their other sites [e.g., finance.uk.yahoo.com or quote.yahoo.co.jp ], but the fact that they have focused in part on this suggests significant expenditures and the desire to globalize their business. I wonder how far they can go in bringing together international e-commerce transactions in the future.

There's so much more to their business, and I admit I should know much more about all the different services they do offer. Little by little, it's becoming clear to more people how far-reaching Yahoo can be. I (and I may be alone) can see Yahoo becoming a successful 'network broadcaster' of sorts, delivering digital content of a huge variety to diverse and specialized audiences. It appears that they will be among the first to have the audiences (as opposed to the tv networks).
