Frederick answered your question better than I could.
All forms of digital wireless are far more economical
(once in place) than analog. That's exactly why Bel
Atlantic and ATI will convert there mainly analog
system into digital as soon as possible, assuming the
merger goes through (They have the billions to do it.).
What's most amazing is the gigantic potential of a
national system that's digital from the start. I
would expect a combined BAM/ATI or VOD/ATI to be valued
at 200 BILLION within two years. Without a national
footprint their combined value is about 125 BILLION!
