MySoftware Company(TM) Stock Increased 469 Percent in 1998 Making it Top Ten Stock Performer

January 5, 1999 02:05 PM
PALO ALTO, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- MySoftware Company, Inc.'s MYSW stock price rose 469 percent in 1998, making it the seventh largest gainer on the Nasdaq National Market, according to The Wall Street Journal. MySoftware was the ninth largest percentage gainer among the top firms listed by The Wall Street Journal on the NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX exchanges. In overall percentage gains, MySoftware Company follows Amazon.com, Network Solutions, Alba Waldensian, Metromedia Fiber Network, New Era of Networks, CMGI Inc., America Online and Yahoo.
Gregory Slayton, President and CEO of MySoftware Company since December 1997, outlined MySoftware's turnaround story Monday on CNNfn. He said, "there are three things that you must do in any turnaround situation. First, stop the bleeding. That's the first thirty days -- you've got to do that to conserve cash.

"Second is to fix the core business, and I think we've been able to do that. We've moved to an annuities services model. We're now -- as a company -- highly profitable, throwing off cash, and our revenue line is growing again.

"But the third thing, the thing the market really looks for and is most excited about, is getting into a new market, a rapidly growing market, and a market that you have a fair shot at being a very large player in. For us, that's the e-prospecting market on the Web."

MySoftware Company had an impressive 1998. In addition to returning to profitability, announcing record revenues, beating Street estimates, and marking a five-fold increase in market capitalization, MySoftware introduced a number of new services, products and partnership deals. In 1998, MySoftware:

* Joined The Polk Company and Experian to launch the first online e-prospecting service, www.MyProspects.com, to provide data-on-demand to small and mid-sized businesses; * Expanded the range of annuity services from one offering to six, including the new MyFileBackup(TM) service; * Introduced 18 new software titles, including MyBusinessEmailer(TM), MyBusinessPublisher(TM), MyHolidayMailingKit(TM), MyTypeArtist(TM), and MyCreativeClipArt(TM); * Won the prestigious Staples' Partnership Award for 1998; * Completed a number of strategic partnership deals, including Ameritech, U S West, Pitney Bowes, and Sir Speedy.

Reflecting on the year, Mr. Slayton remarked, "1998 was a great turnaround year for us. Now that we have laid the foundation to become a profitable and growing Internet company, we are ready to build for the future."
