"Winners of the 1998 WebAwards represent some of the best interactive design shops working to extend their brands to the Internet," said William Rice, President of the Web Marketing Association. "Marketing on the Internet is a competitive environment and simply being there is not enough. We presented Cambridge Technology Partners with a WebAward to highlight its combined design, innovation and technology expertise in leading the way in the creation of corporate Web sites that provide a well-rounded experience for Internet users." A new breed of systems integrator, Cambridge is recognized as the only firm to combine traditional business and technical integration expertise with deep skills in the creative and cognitive disciplines - areas that are crucial to the success of every electronic commerce solution. Cambridge's creative team works with clients' corporate strategy and marketing organizations to ensure that the site not only looks great, but also re-creates the brand experience for online customers and furthers clients' corporate image goals. Cambridge's cognitive team (many of them trained psychologists) provides expert insight on how target users navigate and respond to Web site features. Unique to the Cambridge offering, this cognitive expertise ensures that client Web sites are useful, usable and engaging - a critical component to retaining existing customers and attracting new ones.
Cambridge Clients Recognized For Outstanding Web Sites
RS Components is "Commended" by the Financial Times for their 1998 Web Site of the Year Award
RS Components, Europe's leading distributor of electrical, electronic and mechanical components, recognized that it could gain a competitive advantage by leveraging Internet technologies to change the way it marketed and sold its products. The company enlisted Cambridge to develop an electronic commerce solution that features more than 80,000 products and puts orders in customers' hands overnight--an important guarantee for RS Components. Cambridge used its unique CoRad methodology, which combines business, technical, creative design and user/brand experience, to develop an interactive application that is customer focused, technically sound and fully integrated with RS Component's business processes. Cambridge's ability to combine front-end design skills, back-end integration experience, and business process expertise put RS Components far ahead of its competitors, and much closer to its customers.
The results of the RS Components-Cambridge partnership speak for themselves, with both RS Components and its customers greatly benefiting from the new Web site. A study with one key customer revealed that the cost of processing an order from generating requisition paperwork through to invoice matching was reduced from (pound)60 to (pound)10 per order using the RS Components Web site (RSWWW.com). The cost savings to the customer are likely to exceed (pound)100,000 per year, providing a clear advantage to ordering online. While revenues from the site cannot be disclosed at this time, it has exceeded RS Components' original forecasts. As of the site's phase 2 launch on October 1, 1998, additional success metrics include:
-0- *T
-- 44,356 registered customers
-- 4,400 of these are private individuals - a new customer segment for RS Components which is only cost efficient to reach through the Web site.
-- Highest individual order value to-date is(pound)3600 versus an average order value of (pound)81.

The aim of the Financial Times competition is to promote best practices on the Web. The Financial Times "commended" the RS Components' site as one that is "an impressive use of Internet technology to achieve commercial advantage against the yardsticks of business transformation, innovation and measurable financial benefit."
Standard & Poor's is a Runner Up in Barron's "Top Internet Investment Web Sites" Annual Survey
In 1997, Cambridge and Standard & Poor's partnered to launch the S&P Personal Wealth Website, a groundbreaking site in the financial services industry. Standard & Poor's originally engaged Cambridge in mid-1997 to leverage the Web medium and latest technologies to bring Standard & Poor's 125 years of investment experience and revered financial knowledge to a new audience in the consumer marketplace. By combining smart Web business strategies with leading edge Internet technologies, Cambridge and Standard & Poor's created a new category within the online investing market. S&P Personal Wealth is a first-of-its-kind online investing service that provides thousands of consumers daily with unmatched, real-time, intelligent news and advice. S&P PersonalWealth's differentiation and value stems from its ability to offer proprietary Standard & Poor's content, personalized investment intelligence and advice in a dynamic environment. The site meets the unique requirements of the Web consumer - an easy to use and rich interface; reliable round-the-clock access; fast, responsive performance and virtually limitless scalability. Ten months after the successful initial launch of the site, Standard & Poor's again partnered with Cambridge to help in the development of version 2.0 of S&P PersonalWealth online investing service. Version 2.0 meets consumer demand by adding ten new fundamental services to the site that provide users with the same information upon which Wall Street bases its investment decisions. Barron's second annual survey of the "Top Investment Websites" adds Standard & Poor's popular online investment advice service, S&P Personal Wealth (personalwealth.com), to this year's list. Barron's states that "It's a cliche that the Internet provides individuals what once was available only on Wall Street trading desks. Actually, it offersmore." "S&P PersonalWealth and RSWWW.com are two excellent examples of how Cambridge works with clients to develop Internet solutions that help them get ahead of the competition and win in the digital economy," said Gajen Kandiah, worldwide director of Interactive Solutions at Cambridge Technology Partners. "We developed our CoRad methodology to blend the creative, cognitive, technical and business skills that are required to help companies succeed with their online businesses. We don't only look at the technology aspects of doing business on the Web, but also at the broader business, market and customer issues involved in building and growing a Web business. Our comprehensive approach helps clients face the challenges of managing a dynamic online product and a constantly changing set of customer needs. Cambridge's unique perspective helped Standard & Poor's and RS Components bring groundbreaking products and services to the Web."
