GV, >>Red Hat announced 24/7 support of Linux at Comdex. The support structure is being put in place and will begin sometime this quarter or next.<<

24/7 would require an awful lot of trained techies, much more than a 9 to 5 operation. Did they give any figures of how many users Red Hat could support under their 24/7 plan? Any cost estimates of this support?

GV, playing "what if" for a second. What would you do to help Linux reach a much larger client base if you were Intel? Is it better for Intel to just leave things as is(lowerkey indirect support of Linux) with its Red Hat strategy or to try and pursue a more direct approach by setting up a services arm of Intel?

Mr Ballmer and Mr. Chambers, both acknowledge that customer service is playing a central role in their present and future plans. Could Intel be far behind by placing an emphasis on "services" ala Microsoft, Cisco, IBM??
