SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A resurgent Apple Computer Inc. (Nasdaq:AAPL - news) said Tuesday it had sold 800,000 of its highly popular iMac computers since their launch in August, and it announced a new, lower-priced, multicolored line-up of the machines.

Building on the marketing momentum generated by the translucent, turquoise-hued iMacs -- the company's fastest selling computer ever -- Apple said it would offer the new iMacs with a faster processor and colors ranging from lime to blueberry at a price of $1,199.

Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple said it would continue to offer the original turquoise iMacs for a limited time at $1,049, down from a prior suggested price of $1,299. "
