It has been since Dec. 9, 1996 since Rsys has made any kind of announcement/press release. Without any kind of info coming from the co., they better have some good news next week or they will be in trouble. I cant imagine that they would have been silent over the past few months without having some good news coming. If I were managing the co. and I knew that the upcoming news was negative, and Im a smart manager and I know that cos. that are coming out with disappointing earnings are gettin hammered, I would be inclined to release any kind of info, anything to maybe help support my cos. value. Then, as other have mentioned, after a quick 22 point pop in 2-weeks, we have seen some selling/profit taking and thus the 9 point drop(our friend IBM didnt help any either). The entire market, especially the Nasdaq has had to step back and take a breath prior to marching forward.
The people that know say that the cos. in 1997 that will be good investments will be the ones who have strong earnings announcements. We have seen no comments from mgt. regarding any kind of slowdown, maybe price pressure, but not a slowdown. And we all know what the growth will be for this industry in the future.
All of us who are long in RSYS are in trouble if the news is negative. Does one take a profit prior to next Thurs.?(Stan, i know you dont hold the day of the announcement).
This will be Rsys first full year of earnings since going public. I think this announcement is very important for the co. as it tries to grow and establish itself as a market leader in this exciting industry.
I still cant help but think that the main reason we shot up so quickly is because someone knows something we dont. Specifically, that the earnings will be above the street's estimate.
