CRDO, Thanks for the response. You are correct also about the bottom shelf, it also is a terrible place to be. I am however a perfectionist, most people are just happy to get in the store. What I meant by 6/4 was a total of 24 pouches per case delivered to Wal-Mart. Sounds like if they are purchased by the consumer in a 10 pk (like HI-C) you probably have 4 of these packs per case so it really sounds like it is a 10/4. 4 packs of 10 per case. As far as pricing goes, I will give you a brutal specific. About 20 years ago a 2 small companies in Wisconsin started making frozen pizzas just down the road from one another. One was Tombstone one was Jacks. Early on Tombstone was acquired by...Kraft while Jacks stayed independent. About 10 years ago Jacks had grown to pretty good size, taking some Kraft market share. Kraft offered to buy, Jacks said NO!!! Forward 2 years Jacks had taken the number 1 market share in Michigan, N. Indiana, Illinois,Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Kraft was absolutely livid. Jacks still refused to sell. Very quickly, Tombstone pizza was being sold all over for .99 (Regular $4.99) In a matter of three months, Jacks was down over 55% and financial troubles were starting to surface due to cash flow. Amazingly, 30 days later Kraft owned Jacks, and prices went back to normal. Remember, as big as Kraft is, Phillip Morris owns them so the pockets are deep and the fingers long. I saw a stat recently that Phillip Morris now owns over 20% of all products in the grocery store, including the number one item in over 50% of the catagories. So if a company pisses them off, they can destroy. I personally think this is the kind of philosophy that is killing America, the little guys getting screwed by the big bucks. I am not trying to be doom and gloom, Wal-Mart can be a great and powerful ally just as well as a using bitch. We will see wich it turns out to be..... |
