Re:'Piling up Debt' Wonder how this fits with a WSJ feature showing that corporations are increasingly reluctant to shell out cash for takeovers during the last ten years*. The general idea being that shares are simply not worth the market price or risk. Each year showed a consistent decrease in the percentage of money utilized in an acquisition and an increase in the stock portion.

Perhaps acquisitions are still falling in cash terms, and execs. are also 'piling on debt' to shore up their stock bonuses.
