I can understand where you are coming from...a lot of people started on America Online(I did too!), but as you get more "online saavy", you find you don't need the nice little things it has to offer....I found myself always going right to the web crawler. So now I just use a local internet provider, but I will remember how AOL got me hooked to the online world.
There are many people just getting into the internet, and AOL is a great start...and it pays off for AOL...as well as companies like Apple and their popular IMac. You have to get started somewhere, right?
And as these newbies get more familiar, AOL will just keep growing and expanding to keep one step ahead...at least that's what I think and am counting on!! :-)
I am seeing older people that were actually SCARED of PCs ("oh, that is too complicated!") actually get online and loving it...they are getting over the "computers are for word processing/business/games" and discovering what cyberspace really is.....something for everyone.
Recipes. Stock Quotes. Sports Scores. Special Interest Groups.
....so addictive....so addictive!!!!

A lot of people will be comfortable with AOL and NOT want to change. What's wrong with that if it suits their needs? :-)
