Right after JFK was assassinated there was a big push by the gun control loonies to ban imported military surplus firearms, because that's what Oswald used. Ban those, the loonies said, and we'll all be much safer.

Not true, of course, because RFK and MLK were then assassinated with other types.

The Japanese awakened a sleeping giant at Pearl Harbor, and the loonies learned from that. It's much safer to nibble away at the fringes because you don't step on enough toes at one time to elicit a response. The loonies think by that banning import surplus, then imported new firearms, then reducing magazine size to ten rounds, then semi-autoloaders, then ugly guns, they can get to their ultimate goal.

They forget that only a government can trust its people with firearms that has the trust of the people. And of course the reverse is true. They say that the Second Amendment has something to do with the legitimate sporting use of firearms -- it doesn't. They say it has something to do with the National Guard -- it doesn't. It has to do with FREEDOM, and freedom alone. When we lose the Second Amendment, the First Amendment is in grave danger.

When that happens, you and I will be carted off for our opinions. It's not all that unbelievable. If you want to see a chilling illustration of what it will be like, rent the video of Silvester Stallone's movie, "The Demolition Man." Regardless of what you think of Stallone (I'm not a fan), the scenario was a civilization of the not-too-distant future in which there were no weapons, no war, no crime, no pestilence and NO freedom. If you said a bad word on the street a computer came on a loudspeaker with the news that your credit card had been docked. More serious crimes were docked accordingly.

Only there was no freedom. Except, as Stallone discovered, among the underground population who lived in the sewers and ate ratburgers. They preferred that to the sterilized world above, which of course was completely corrupt and unsustainable.

Do you want to live in a world like that? Just let Clinton and his cronies eliminate all firearms that don't have a legitimate sporting purpose, and that world will be here shortly.

Frankly, I don't care what Clinton did or did not do with Monica. I do care what he did under oath as President and under oath in testimony to a court of law. What he and Monica did is only the titillation you get from a completely unworthy regime that just happens to have the slickest tongue in history. His assault on freedom is important, but his assault on the sensibilities of the mainstream is merely annoying.
