thanks for your thoughtful response
One of our illustrious posters told me that he thought the Euro would succeed because it would fail first..I wonder if we are going to see waves of protectism down the road..as a result of three major trading
blocks..also think we will have waves of lowering state and city income taxes as internet commerce grows and states will compete with
themselves and want companies to come to their state to gain tax
revenue from them..
Which is more dangerous to our health..trade deficit or current debt?
I don't know..if our economy keeps on rolling shouldn't that help
the national debt? Also wouldn't a lower dollar help indirectly to
bailout some of the submerging countries who have debt denominated
in dollars? Wouldn't it also help to bailout some of commodities
and nonservice industries?
Also now that Japan may have changed its policies and is not giving
away money for "free"..won't a rise in our dollar attract more foreign
money into our bond market..
wouldn't it help to slow down the deflationary spiral?
I thought military spending..does add to the economy although wiping
out the "peace dividend"
Re:technology..you are right about the transition..I do get frustrated
at times when I have called for help and people on the otherside
make me go through "superstitious" behavior..ie I had trouble with
connections and a guy from Gateway told me to open up my computer and reinstall my modem..then he got angry because I wouldn't..that made
no sense since the communications worked intermittently..that was the worse suggestion of all the times I called for help..I wonder how
many people he sent on wild goose chases..(I have a background in
programming and know at least how to isolate a problem..I can't tell
you how many stupid solutions I have been given for fixing problems
or instructions that were just redundant..
re locking up..in windows 95 I could usually get out of it by hitting
control,alt,del..in windows 98..when it freezes I can't even use control, alt, del to end an application-
re bloated applications-poor coding..ie Opera, another browswer, although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles,it is just over 1 meg..
re:antimicrosoft trust trial..think at least for internet,it will make
a lot of little people's life a lot easier to have it integrated..
re netscape: wasn't it orginally funded by US funds in grant..
