ARQL will be presenting at the Hambrecht and Quist Healthcare conference on Tuesday 1/12/99 at 3:30 pm PST. This is a rather poor time slot for ARQL as they have been the opening company presentation in 97 and 98. A slot that occurs after the market close is considered weak. The H&Q conference has, in the past, been a wonderful opportunity for companies to get their case presented to a large number of influential investors and analysts. Two years ago, with ARQL stock price low, the conference presentation by ARQL resulted in a marked uptick in the stock price. Last year with ARQL price high, the presentation resulted in a marked down tick. Regardless, this conference has a major effect on investor sentiment toward the company.

Companies often time major news releases to coincide with their H&Q presentation. There have been rumors of a major new big pharma deal for ARQL. if there is, this would be where the announcement will be made. Regardless, ARQL has held back a major announcement for release at the H&Q conference in both 97 and 98. I have no reason to believe that this year will be any different.

The bottom line is that I expect that the H&Q conference will be a major plus for ARQL this year and am betting that the stock price will respond. It's so nice to be in January :-)
