Morgy,

Brilliance is relative.

Some people can't see the forest for the trees, but they can write an entire dissertation defending that fact that there isn't a forest.... I think you know a forest when you see one.... :0)

Note: Common sense is an oxymoron.... <VBG>

Of course, consumerism drives the economy. Anyone that tells you differently is an elitist product of a caste driven mentality where an attempt is futilely made to keep people in their "place".

I have always felt that society is driven by the instinctive desire to have a "better" life than their parents had, with more conveniences, time and labor saving appliances... etc. The only problem they face is that for every minute in time savings, two minutes of competitive demand is thrust upon them... :0)

Our lives are going faster and faster as the velocity of business accelerates and time horizons contract as we move toward converting the entire economy into "just in time" manufacturing..

The real issue is how consumers spend their money and what group sets the tone for the entire economy. And no doubt the consumer group that matters most are the baby boomers.

Next time you have a "brilliant" guy tell you that consumers don't matter, just smile wrying with a slightly bemused look of belittlement.... <VBG>

Regards,

Ron
